Terms of Use
Draft · October 2026
Draft wording: requires attorney review before release. Items in [brackets] must be completed.
About these terms
These terms apply to your use of PlayAlong Lab ("the app"), made by Kingsley Nwachukwu, 2525 Elm Street, Dallas, TX 75226. By using the app you agree to them. Questions: [email protected].
Music you import
You may only import content that you created, that is in the public domain, or that you are authorized to use (for example, because you bought it under a licence that allows this use, or the rights holder gave you permission).
Imports are for your private, personal practice. The app processes imported music on your device to show notes and fingerings, play it back and help you practise. It does not give you any permission to copy, perform, share or distribute that music, and nothing in the app grants rights in music owned by others.
You are responsible for the content you import and for having the rights to use it.
What you may not do
You may not use the app to infringe copyrights or other rights, to make or distribute unauthorized copies of music, sheet music or recordings, or to publish or share scores or recordings that you are not authorized to share.
You may not remove copyright or licence notices from content, or use the app to get around technical protections on content.
Content included with the app
Music and sounds included with the app were made for the app or are in the public domain. A list of their sources and licences is available at https://zulurisk.github.io/playalong-lab/credits.html or on request at [email protected].
Your content stays on your device
Imported songs, recordings and the practice data generated from them are stored only on your device and are not uploaded to us. See the Privacy policy for details. Keep your own backups; deleting the app deletes them.
Accounts and subscriptions
An account and an active subscription are needed to use the practice features. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple and renew automatically until cancelled in your Apple Account settings. Apple's standard licensed-application terms also apply.
Ending your use
You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time. Subscriptions purchased through Apple are billed by Apple. You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple Account settings. Refund requests for Apple-billed purchases are handled by Apple. Deleting your PlayAlong Lab account does not cancel your subscription; cancel it through Apple to prevent renewal. We may suspend or terminate access for a material violation of these Terms or when required by law, subject to rights that cannot be limited by law.
No warranty and limits of liability
The app is provided "as is". Notes, fingerings and other results generated from your files may contain mistakes.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no other promises or warranties about the app, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement, and we do not promise that the app will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for your PlayAlong Lab subscription in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud, or affects your rights as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms and will show the date of the latest version here. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to these terms or the app will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away any right you have under the laws of the place where you live to bring a claim in your local courts or to rely on its mandatory consumer protections.
